Dear IFNA CNR members,
Purpose:
This study aims to clarify the implementation status, awareness, and international differences in preoperative infectious disease screening. Specifically, we investigate the screening practices conducted to reduce the risk of bloodborne infections (HBV, HCV, HIV, and so on.) for healthcare workers involved in surgical procedures.
Additionally, this survey compares the guidelines of professional organizations and academic societies to which nurses and healthcare professionals belong, the actual clinical practices in different countries, and perceptions of infectious disease testing. The goal is to contribute to the development of more effective infection control measures.
Through this research, we aim to reevaluate the importance of preoperative infectious disease screening from an international perspective and explore optimal practices in Japan and other countries.
Confidentiality:
This survey is conducted with the approval of the Ethics Review Committee at the principal investigator's affiliated institution (Approval Number: 24NXL56).

For the purpose of this survey, "preoperative infectious disease screening" refers to tests conducted to protect healthcare workers involved in surgeries from exposure to bloodborne infections. In Japan, such tests are recommended by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) and surgical medical associations.
